Transition Planning for Military Families:

At our school, we understand that military families often face unique transition challenges. That's why we offer comprehensive transition planning tailored to the needs of military children and their families. Creekside plays a crucial role in supporting military students. Creekside Middle Schools team regularly check in on military students to provide guidance and emotional support, helping them navigate the ups and downs of military life. During the school year, we have multiple opportunities for essential information, resources, and a welcoming environment to connect military families with other families in the community.

Academic Planning for Military Families:

Academic planning for military families is a priority for us. During the summer, the district may meet with our Military Point of Contact in the School (MPOC) to discuss academic schedules and ensure a smooth transition. We work together match the needs and goals of military students, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources to succeed in their educational journey.

Resources for Military Families:

We believe in providing all students with a well-rounded educational experience. Our students have opportunities to participate in a wide range of school activities, including Art, STEM, Dance, Band, Chorus, Theater, AVID, school-related clubs, mentoring and volunteer opportunities to foster growth and help military students connect with peers who share similar interests and create a sense of belonging and community here at Creekside Middle School.

Our WEB (Welcome Every Body) leaders offer guided tours of the school, introduce new students to their teachers, and provide a supportive network to ensure a smooth integration into our school community. We are enthusiastic about welcoming fellow military peers and helping them adapt to their new academic environment. Our WEB leaders are 8th graders who are selected based on their academic and social leadership skills.

Support for Military ESE Children:

We understand that military children with exceptional needs require additional support. Dr. Elliott and the rest of the ESE team here are Creekside offer assistance for these students, including meetings with our ESE Resource teacher to review Individualized Education Plans (IEP). We provide valuable resources for academic support, ensuring that our ESE children receive the specialized education they require.

Military Recognition Events:

Our school is committed to recognizing and honoring our military families. We have planned events like our Veteran's Day celebration, "Purple Up Day" and "Military Child of the Month", as well as special ceremonies to honor families. These events serve as a token of our appreciation for the sacrifices military families make and provide a platform for our school community to express their gratitude.

Mental Health Resources For Military Families:

We understand that the well-being of military children is a top priority. To support their mental health, students can access our School Counselors and/or our Behavior Specialist/Mental Health therapist, who can provide counseling and emotional support. Our goal is to ensure that every military child on our campus has the resources they need to maintain their mental and emotional well-being. Creekside is committed to providing military children and their families with the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We aim to make their educational journey as smooth as possible and express our gratitude for their service.
